Grotta Giusti owes its name to the poet Giuseppe Giusti, a native of the city of Monsummano and the son of a wealthy landowner who was credited with discovering this famous and magical cavern in 1849 when some laborers he had engaged were digging in the area. The spectacle that appeared before the eyes of those pioneers was unique and extraordinary: a triumph of stalagmites, stalactites, steam, and hot water pools whose healing properties were immediately revealed.
